Paintball day
Paintball is a fast, exhilarating and enjoyable sport. Players are equipped with a gas powered marker (politically correct term for a paintball gun) which fires paint filled gelatin capsules, these capsules are fully biodegradable and the paint is water soluble so it always washes out. If a player is hit by a ball and it breaks then they are eliminated from the game and must sit out for the duration which is usually only about 10-15 minutes. Game formats range from straight elimination contests to capture the flag and other mission based scenarios. Some examples are listed below...
Bunker Village
Located in a gulley overlooked by a high and steep hill. A collection of bunkers some only a few feet apart from each other. Can your team capture and hold the centre flag? Should you concentrate your efforts in the village or risk sending a contingent to hold the hill fort which would give your team a commanding position over the entire gully? A fast paced game where good strategy is vital, use of smoke and paint grenades come into play in a big way on this field.
The Hill
One team starts at the bottom of a steep hill, the other at the top. Can the attacking team make it to the top of the hill and capture the opposition base? This game is played as a resurrection game. If you are on the attacking team and are eliminated you may return to your base, be wiped by a marshal and then you can return to the game. The defending team cannot resurrect players.
Storm The Fort
The fort is based in a small clearing, consisting of a watch tower and heavy fortifications. The attacking team must stage a full frontal assault on the fort. Can your team hold the fort for the duration of the game or will you be over-run by the opposition? This game can go either way, the fort is strong but not unbeatable. This game is played as a resurrection game. If you are on the attacking team and are eliminated you must return to your base, be wiped by a marshal and then you can return to the game. The defending team cannot resurrect players.
Speedball
The fastest game of them all, this is how professional paintball is played, in small arenas with small barricades. The game is fast furious and unforgiving. You must keep tight or you will be eliminated, but not returning fire will result in your team being dominated. This game is normally played as a warm up for the day and is over quite quickly.
