Winston Churchill was one of the greatest ever British statesmen, some would say possibly the greatest ever Briton, thanks to his inspired leadership during the Second Word War, and now commemorated in a selection from Border Fine Arts called Churchill China.
Churchill took up painting as an antidote to the anguish he felt during World War One. Painting became his constant solace and preoccupation and he rarely spent a few days away from home without taking his canvas and brushes. Even during his tour of France's Maginot Line in the middle of August 1939 as World War Two loomed, Churchill managed to snatch a painting holiday with friends near Dreux. Churchill China uses these paintings.
Now, Border Fine Arts is commemorating Sir Winston Churchill and his artwork through Churchill China, a unique collection of beautiful and elegantly shaped vases, dishes and planters illustrating three of his most striking images.
