Speed Camera Detector and Radar Detectors
A radar signal is conical in shape - much like a torch shape. At 200
yards, the operating range of a radar gun, the signal is as wide as
a dual carriageway! Most of the signal therefore, goes past the target
on up the road reflecting off cars, trees and buildings, etc. eventually
becoming radar scatter. Speed Camera detector is an extremely sensitive
radio receiver designed to be tuned to these frequencies and can detect
very small particles of radar scatter, at up to 2 miles.
Laser guns project an infrared beam that is reflected by the target
vehicle. By timing those reflections the laser can determine the targets
speed. The laser alert systems warn of such lasers in use by speed
camera detector.
The GPS Safety Camera Alert Systems lock on to at least 3 satellites
orbiting the globe when switched on. Via the GPS satellite receiver
(often the size of small matchbox) the GPS Safety Camera Alert System
compares the exact position of the Alert System and compares it with
a database of GPS co-ordinates for UK Accident Black spots, all speed
camera detector locations. The device checks the vehicle exact position
in the UK every second.
